Safe Routes to School-JB Nelson, Wintergreen Ter

Current Status
The City will be working on Phase I (Investigative/Due Diligence) and Phase II (Final Engineering Design) design in 2016.  Based on the findings of during these investigative phases will determine if construction is feasible at all locations.

Project Purpose
Provide safe routes for children to walk or ride to school as part of the Batavia Bicycle Plan & Safe Routes to School evaluations.

Project Background
The scope of the project includes installation of new sidewalk on Wintergreen Terrace, from Violet Lane to Woodland Hills Road to fill a missing gap, yet to be determined based on field conditions. Replacement of the sidewalk will occur at the intersections of S. College Street and Cleveland Avenue and continue south along Cleveland Avenue to the back of JB Nelson School to meet current ADA requirements and to provide a better buffer between students and busses. All these locations were identified as key routes for children to walk or ride to school as part of the Batavia Bicycle Plan and Safe Routes to School evaluations.

 Construction Impacts
The design has not begun and cannot be determined at this time.  As plans are designed more information will be available.

Project Funding
This project has received Safe Routes to School Funding in the amount of 100%
