Explorer Post 5228

The Batavia Fire Department Explorer Post enables young adults between the ages of 15 and 21 to learn the fundamentals of firefighting. Post members receive training in Basic Firefighter Operations including; Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), hose loads, rescue, and ladders.

The Explorer Post also provides an understanding of organizational management by allowing the youth board and the membership to conduct meetings and make critical decisions that affect the organization based on democratic principles.

Post members may also ride along with fire and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) crews, train with department members, support Fire and EMS Operations, assist with community events and conduct fundraising for the Post.
