The City in conjunction with the Kane County Forest Preserve have finished the improvements to the Braeburn Marsh. The main channel through the marsh from the Batavia Park District site by Western Avenue to Branson Drive was widened to provide better conveyance. On the east side of Randall Road the weir was removed, which lowered the water level approximately 1.5 feet. This will provide for additional storm water storage in the Marsh.
The improvements that were completed in the Marsh are intended to greatly reduce the flooding that has been occurring in the Braeburn Subdivision. The City has implemented an annual maintenance program for our section of the Braeburn Marsh, which is west of Randall Road. The City was recently contacted by the Kane County Forest Preserve about hosting a public meeting on November 3rd at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall to present their future maintenance plan for the east side of Braeburn Marsh.
