Advanced Disposal Refuse Collection

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, residents with regular collection dates on Thursday or Friday will be pushed back one day.

Brush Collection

The final brush collection of the year will begin on Monday, November 30, for both sides of town.  Brush should be at the curb by 7 a.m. on Monday but no sooner than the weekend before that. For more information about the program, please click here or call 630-454-2400.

2015 Residential Leaf Collection Program
The completion of the last leaf collection for the east side of town was put on hold today so crews could finish preparing our trucks and equipment for the impending snow storm.  There is a small area shown on our Leaf Collection Progress Map that has not yet been completed.  These streets are visible in orange if we haven’t started them or yellow if we have started but they are incomplete.  All areas shown in green have been completed.  The third and final leaf collection for the west side that was tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, November 23, has been put on hold at this time in light of the snow storm that is expected to arrive in our area later tonight and on Saturday.  With the very cold temperatures that are predicted for the weekend, it is likely that the leaf piles will freeze, making it unfeasible for our crews to remove them next week.  If temperatures rebound around Thanksgiving and melt the snow, we plan to make an effort  to work on leaf collection for the remaining east side streets and the west side leaf collection during the week of November 30, but this is not guaranteed or definite.  Resuming additional leaf collection would also depend upon whether or not there is additional winter precipitation next week.  As part of our program, yard waste bags containing leaves only will be collected by Advanced Disposal without stickers on your regularly scheduled refuse collection dates during the month of December; stickers for yard waste will still be required through November 30.  Please refer to the City’s website for details about alternate measures that can be used to dispose of your leaves.  We will also be posting updates on the website once the effect of the snow event on our program is known.  Please contact the Street Division at 630-454-2400 with any questions.

Houston Street Update

The Houston St. Streetscape project is substantially complete, and the road was reopened to through traffic last Friday, November 13.  Streetlights will be received in late December; installation will impact some parking stalls, require intermittent lane closures, and impact intersections when work is being done but it will be isolated.  Remaining landscape plantings will be done next spring.  Thank you for your patience during construction of this project.  We hope you will have an opportunity to visit Houston St. soon to see the improvements that have been made.
