Brush Collection

The final brush collection of the year was completed this week for both sides of town.  If you accumulate any additional brush over the winter, please store it outside the parkway until the program resumes in the spring.  The 2016 collection dates will be publicized on the City of Batavia website next year.

2015 Residential Leaf Collection Program
The leaf collection program has concluded for the season.  Crews were able to complete three full collections for the east and west sides of town even with the two snow events that occurred in mid-November and early December.  Residents who may have additional leaves can place them in yard waste bags without stickers, and the bags will be picked up by Advanced Disposal on regularly scheduled refuse collection dates during the month of December.  Refer to the City’s website for details about alternate measures that can be used to dispose of your leaves.  Please contact the Street Division at 630-454-2400 with any questions.

Safe Routes to School (Hart, Raddant & Larkspur)

It is with much excitement the City will be adding additional 6 Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons installed with this Safe Routes to School project.  The RRFBs will be located on both sides of the street where the Illinois Prairie Path intersects Raddant, Larkspur/Wagner & Hart Road. As anticipated at this date the signs will be installed the week of 12/7 and functional by the end of the same week.

The units are solar powered and alert drivers of pedestrians intent to cross the street.  While the lights are flashing drivers are suppose to stop and allow the pedestrian to cross the street.  There will be no pavement work or striping with this job.  This job was fully funded by a Safe Routes to School Grant that provides safe means for students to bike or walk to and from school.
