Yard Waste Collection Resumes in April

The yard waste collection season resumes in April. Please visit the City’s website for more details about the yard waste collection program.

Deerpath Road Bridge

Construction for replacement of the bridge is anticipated to start shortly.  The contractor has displayed two changeable message boards on Deerpath Road, one on each side of the bridge.  The message board will be alerting drivers that the road (between Main Street & Deerpath / Saupp) is scheduled to be closed the week of April 11th.  A few more utilities need to relocate prior to the bridge construction fully starting.  This closure will be for the duration of the project and as of now we are anticipating the road being closed until Labor Day.  This is weather pending as well as dependent on the utility contractors.

Posted detour route signs will be up prior to April 11th.  Please follow the signed detour route taking Saupp, Hapner & Wade.   We appreciate your cooperation during this project.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to the Public Works Engineering project manager, Andrea Podraza either via or (630) 454-2757.  Updated information will be on the project website:  or

Next Kane County Electronics Recycling Event Is April 9

The first Kane County Recycles Event of the year will be held on Saturday, April 9, between 8 a.m. and 12 noon, at 540 S. Randall in St. Charles. At this event, residents can recycle electronics including TVs (free), books (free), and liquid latex paint (for a fee). Residents may also bring up to 4 large boxes of residential confidential documents for onsite shredding (free).  Please note that the list of accepted items is now limited to those electronics items that are banned from landfills; other electronics items should be put in residents’ regular trash (not recycling).  At the Electronics Recycling Events, residents can recycle up to 3 TVs per car of any type, size, or age. Large loads of TVs will not be accepted.  The monthly Electronics Recycling Events are for Kane County residents only.
To avoid long lines:  The April 9 event is expected to have increased traffic and much longer lines due to the winter break for the program. The May 14 event will be for recycling electronics and books only so please wait for this event if you just have those items to recycle.
Electronics recycling drop-off sites closing:  The two remaining Kane County weekday drop-off sites in St. Charles and West Dundee are closing indefinitely as of April 8.  Here are links to articles about the latest developments in electronics recycling and disposal: Illinois’ Electronics Recycling Struggles Affect Kane County & Where to Recycle Your Big Old TVs Today
Non-residential electronics recycling:  Businesses, institutions, schools, and non-profits may not use this event, and should instead contract for recycling services from a certified electronics recycler.
Residents can visit the Kane County Recycling website for current options. If you have any questions, please contact the Kane County Recycling Coordinator at 630-208-3841.
