SPECIAL MEETING on Campana Proposed Redevelopment

The next review of the Proposed Campana Redevelopment will be held at a special Committee of the Whole meeting on October 30, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall in City Council Chambers.This meeting will focus on questions submitted to COW and city staff for review. The City Council Meeting at which a vote may be taken on the issue is on November 6, 2017.

Leaf collection

City Leaf Collection Underway 

The first leaf collection of the season for westside residents was completed this week. 

The second leaf collection begins on Monday, October 30, for eastside residents; and Monday, November 6, for westside residents.  For additional details about the program, including the 2017 schedule, please visit the Leaf Collection information page or call 630-454-2400.  Daily maps showing our progress are posted on the City’s website during the leaf collection season.  

Last Brush Collection of the Season Is in November 

The last brush collection of the season starts Monday, November 27, on both sides of town.  Brush/limbs are to be at the curb for collection no later than 7 a.m. on Monday, but no sooner than the weekend before that.  If your brush was out at 7 a.m. on Monday and not collected by the end of the workday on Friday, December 1, please notify the Street Division at 630-454-2400 no later than Monday, December 4.  Information about how to prepare your brush can be found on the Brush Collection information page.  

Gun locks


Batavia firearm owners are invited to stop by the Batavia Police Department, 100 N. Island Avenue, to receive a free gun lock while supplies last.
Batavia Police encourage all residents to safely store firearms at all times in order to prevent injuries or death due to accidental discharge. Police will neither request nor record personal information from those interested in obtaining a gun lock. The goal of the program is to promote gun safety in order to keep citizens safe.

Batavia Batfest wings in October 28

BatFest is Batavia’s annual Halloween themed family event attracting over 2,500 ghouls. BatFest includes, downtown Trick-or-Treating, Mothers’ Club Parade, pumpkin bowl, contests BatArt and games for free family fun.The event will take place Saturday, October 28, 2017 around downtown and at the Batavia Riverwalk and Peg Bond Pavilion from 10am to 2pm.
Also at the festival, shop the last of the Farmers’ Market outdoor season.
