Community Survey
Survey appearance

Last week to fill out the Batavia Community Survey. Ends April 30, participate today!

Your views are important and we would like to know what you think about “life in Batavia.” Please consider taking 15-20 minutes to participate in the Batavia Community Survey, which provides opportunities to express your opinions regarding services the City Government delivers to you and your household. We also ask your thoughts about life in the community in general.
This survey will help guide us in designing our strategies for service delivery and allocating resources to carry out those strategies. Results of the survey will be shared with the community, and thus it will help track our efforts in response to your perspectives on Batavia.

The City Council specifically plans to use your input in its upcoming strategic planning sessions. To ensure that your opinions are included, please respond to by filling out the Community Survey by Monday April 30, 2018.
This survey is completely anonymous and all individual responses will be kept strictly confidential. If you have any questions about this survey, or if you would like a print version of the survey sent to you, please call (630)454-2050 and leave us a message with your name and address.

Batavia Memories Preservation Project

This is your personal invitation to participate in a special program on Saturday, April 28 from 10am-1pm at the Batavia Civic Center at 327 W. Wilson in Batavia.

On that day, Batavia Depot Museum and Burnham Creative Group will host the Batavia Memories Preservation Project.  This is the last day of a weeklong series of events for National Preservation Week.  See attached flyer for more information.

At the event you are encouraged to share photos representing your life or your family’s lives in Batavia, whether very recently or long ago.  Burnham Creative Group will scan up to three of your photos on the spot, so you don’t have to part with your originals.  Digital photos can be uploaded from your digital storage drives as well.  You’ll get a keepsake photo of you and your photograph, and the opportunity to tell all of Batavia about it on BATV.  Come share your memories!  All collected information will become part of the archives of the Batavia Historical Society.
By clicking here to register , you can help us plan for the number of people participating.  It takes approximately 20-40 minutes to participate in all the activities of the event.  Once you are registered, we will email you the Memory Write up forms to fill out ahead of time, or if you prefer, you can fill them out when you arrive at the event. The Batavia Memories Preservation Project is free and open to the public.
The history of Batavia is much than the stories of famous people.  It is the collective story of its citizenry – whether you’ve lived in Batavia all your life or you have just moved into town.  All contributions to this project are greatly valued, and we hope you will take this opportunity to add the images and stories of your family to our local history.
By participating in the Batavia Memories Preservation Project, you will contribute to Batavia’s permanent historic records.  We hope to see you for the Batavia Memories Preservation Project on Saturday, April 28 at the Batavia Civic Center.  Please share with your friends and family!

25th Anniversary Batavia Citywide Garage Sale to benefit Batavia Fireworks fund

Get ready for our 25th Annual City-Wide Garage Sale!

Friday, May 4th & Saturday, May 5th – 8am-4pm.

The City-Wide Garage Sale is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and it will be our biggest one yet. What once started with 25 sales has now blossomed into a yearly tradition where the residents of Batavia come together to Spring clean and sell their stuff on the first weekend in May. This fundraiser is one of the biggest events that the volunteers of the Batavia Fireworks Committee host each year to help raise the funds to put on Batavia’s 4th of July Sky Concert in Engstrom Park. In honor of this tradition and its 25 years of success, we are hoping for a record garage sale year. Our goal is to have at least 250 garage and/or yard sales registered for this unique Batavia event.

Hosting a garage/yard sale:

  • Register by April 25th, 2018 at 5pm online at and pay the $35 registration fee. All proceeds go to the Batavia Fireworks Fund. Printed registrations will be available in your City Utility Bill, Neighbors Magazine, and can be downloaded from our website.
    • Sales must be held within the City of Batavia and/or within the Batavia Township limits.
    • Registration guarantees that your sale will be listed on our printed maps that are distributed to thousands of potential shoppers as well as on our online map on our website.
    • We are giving away two (2) Google Home devices. One (1) device per each side of the river. Drawing will be held on May 5th, 2018. Must be a registered sale to win.
    • The Batavia Fireworks Committee advertises this event in all the local newspapers, city calendars, multiple social media outlets, and on Craigslist.
  • Pick up your Sale Packet from City Hall (100 N. Island Ave., Batavia, IL 60510) on May 2nd, 2018 from noon-7pm. Packet includes copies of the Garage Sale Map, signs, balloons, and flowers donated by Shady Hill Gardens in Elburn. (
