Batavia library

Batavia Library Joins SWAN Library System

On our side there are lots of changes in our Technical Services and Circulation departments - all the technical issues with adding a new piece of material to the catalog and tracking it as it comes and goes when checked out and in.
For residents, the highlight is that we are now part of a network of 97 Illinois libraries. Batavia patrons can borrow books that are in the collection of any of these libraries. They simply place a hold on the item through our catalog and pick up (and return) the item here at the Batavia library when it comes in. The move to SWAN has increased the number of items available to Batavia cardholders by 8 times - 9.8 million items are now available. These items include books, CD's, DVDs, audiobooks and books in 226 other languages. Patrons also now have access to special collections such as those in the Morton Arboretum and Brookfield Zoo.
