Area 3 Construction ongoing

Morton Street – Area 3 Storm Sewer & Watermain Improvements

Morton Street continues to be shut down from Rt. 31 west to Jefferson to thru traffic.  Local Traffic will only be able to access Morton Street from Jefferson.  This closure will be for the duration of the project which is anticipated to be completed on August 10th.  Please follow the detour routes and proceed with caution in the construction zone.

The week of 5/29, storm sewer began in the cemetery.  The work will progress to the west, eventually reaching the intersection of Morton Street & Rt. 31.  At that time lane closures will occur on Rt. 31, reducing north and south to one lane in each direction.  For more information on the project go the project website: http://cityofbatavia.net/679/Area-3

2018 Ward 1 Storm Sewer Reconstruction – Giese Road

On Monday, June 4 construction is expected to start on our Ward 1 Drainage & Watermain Improvements along Giese Road, east of Larkspur. Attached is a construction notice that was sent out to residents in the immediate area.
The contractor, Performance Construction, will begin with the watermain replacement portion of the work. Next week they will be doing mostly set-up work such as delivery of equipment, sawcutting pavement, and layout. Once the watermain replacement is completed, the main portion of storm sewer construction is expected to take place after NICOR and AT&T have relocated all of their conflicting utilities.
No on-street parking will be allowed in the construction area but Giese Road will remain open for traffic. Construction equipment staged on the street will be barricaded off every night. In addition, there is potential that some material will be staged in the parkway of the north side of Giese Road.
We will be sending email updates as the project proceeds and will also post construction updates on the project webpage (http://www.cityofbatavia.net/655/Ward-I). If you do have any questions on the project, please don’t hesitate to call me.
