4th of July fireworks

Batavia Fireworks celebration coming up...July 4th!

The City of Batavia is proud to host one of the most celebrated 4th of July fireworks productions in the western suburbs of Chicago, which we proudly call the “Sky Concert.” It has a more than 50-year history of being produced and paid for by local citizens. Today, the show is provided under the auspices of the Batavia ACCESS Committee. The show is paid for with private donations and fund-raisers. While the City of Batavia incurs costs for police and fire safety, no tax dollars are used to pay for the pyrotechnics.

Here are the details for the 2018 show!

Location: Main Street & Millview Drive in Batavia

5:00pm – Savor the Flavor – Food Vendors/Food Trucks
6:00pm – Orange Star takes the stage
8:15pm – The Batavia Community Band performs all our favorites
9:30pm – FIREWORKS!!!

Orange Star, an acoustic pop cover band from Batavia, Illinois has been actively performing throughout the Chicagoland area. Whether it’s a bar, festival, private party, or concert in the park, Orange Star has been getting people on their feet with their unique sound and high energy shows. When Orange Star is not working on bringing you the latest pop hits they are creating original pop songs for you to enjoy! Come dance with them at their next show!

Follow them on Facebook!

The Batavia Community Band will be playing all the American classics to set the mood for our Sky Concert. Show them some support by ‘liking’ their Facebook Page!

Area 3 Construction ongoing

Morton Street continues to be shut down from Rt. 31 west to Jefferson to thru traffic.  Local Traffic will only be able to access Morton Street from Jefferson.  This closure will be for the duration of the project which is anticipated to be completed on August 10th.  Please follow the detour routes and proceed with caution in the construction zone.

The week of 5/29, storm sewer began in the cemetery.

The work is progressing to the west and is close to reaching the intersection of Morton Street & Rt. 31.  New storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main will need to be installed on Rt 31/Batavia Avenue, requiring lane closures on Rt 31.  Lane closures are in place, which are reducing north and south to one lane in each direction, and work should be completed by mid-July where all lanes will reopen.  Residents and motorists are advised to expect delays as they travel through the lane closures on Rt 31/Batavia Avenue.  For more information on the project go the project website: http://cityofbatavia.net/679/Area-3
