Communication Manager

Lori Botterman is the City of Batavia Communications Manager, responsible for developing and maintaining communication strategies for the city, as well as serving as a liaison between the city and the community and media.

A Batavia resident since 2003, Lori has been active in the community, volunteering for the United Way, serving on the board at Water Street Studios, and was a member of the inaugural committee to create Batavia’s Farm-to-Table Dinner event. Additionally, she has taught fitness classes at the Batavia Park District and the Batavia Apartments.

Lori’s professional communications background includes experience in media and government. She began her career as a newspaper reporter and editor and held writing and senior editing roles at the Northwest Herald, The Daily Herald, and the Chicago Tribune. Recently she held marketing and communications positions at Northern Illinois University and the University of Illinois Chicago. 

A native of Chicago and a graduate of NIU, Lori is married to Kevin Botterman. They have two adult children and one rescue dog.
